Collaborative Practise is a new way for divorcing or seperating couples to work together as a team with trained professionals, to resolve disputes respectfully, without going to court.

Each client has the support, protection and guidance of his or her own lawyer. Together the lawyers and clients meet to discuss all of the issues that need to be addressed. The lawyers agree that they are there to help the clients resolve their issues constructively. They are not there to take the case to court and are prevented from doing so.

The main elements of Collaborative Practise are set out in a contract called a Participation Agreement, which both the lawyers and the clients sign.

Is Collaborative Law for you?

Sometimes, talking things through can seem the hardest challenge of all, especially when relationships break down; hurt, bitterness and anger are often the strongest feelings.

The collaborative approach will help you through this process, because almost always, the very best solutions are those which you work out for yourselves.

At is simplest, that’s what collaborative law is all about – reaching solutions together, to ease the pain of relationship breakdown and create the best chance of building a brighter future.

You may find that this approach is right for you if:

  • Saving costs is a factor
  • You do not wish to go to Court
  • You have a genuine desire to make it work
  • You have a willingness to disclose, fully and honestly information about your assets
  • You long for a swifter process that would reduce stress for yourselves and the negative impact this often has on the children of the family
  • You prefer a process that is managed by yourselves but with specialist input from your lawyer who is present at the 4 way round table meetings

We are a group of skilled trained lawyers who are practised in working in this collaborative way so please do make contact with us so we can give you some further information about the process.

  • Negotiate a mutually acceptable settlement without using a court to decide any issues for the clients.
  • Engage in open communication and information sharing, and...
  • Create shared solutions that take in to account the highest priorities of both clients.
